IN THE MEDIA AND MUCH MORE!!!!!

Lacy's back and I'm happy to say my head is defogged. Now I wish I could say the same about our weather. We're currently trapped in a huge cloud and we can't see our neighbors house.

While I've been gone. We've had some great news...

First of all, Shane was seen in the march issue of Blade Magazine !!!

It's true! The editor picked a picture of Shane from the Oregon Blade show that we went to back in September.
Shane's in the "unsheathed" column by editor Steve Shackleford. So please go out and pick up your copy here http://www.blademag.com/article/march_09/. You can read the article here. http://www.blademag.com/article/unsheathed_march09/. I love it. I'm so excited for Shane. This is big for him. Yes. there is a glimpse of me too in the lower right corner of the pic.

Also, if you live near us and listen to our local country music. 105.5 Then you can hear Shane's add on the radio!

All of that and I'm going to treat you to a knife Shane made right after Christmas for his uncle Max.

I love this knives. Max almost didn't get it because Lacy was convinced that it belonged in her collection! Those red pins are so awesome! The mammoth bone has great texture and who wouldn't love the red Jasper?
Great file work!

There is is in it's full package. It's awesome, isn't it. You'd think I would be use to this by now, but he still amazes me.

All emails welcome.

Love ya-Lacy

Lacy's Awsome Kitchen Knife

Hello Everyone! Lacy has been a bit under the weather lately, so she has been slackin on the blog. Well I'm sure I would be as well if I had a cold as bad as she does. I will try to fill in for her for a post or two, but don't expect my writin to be as good or funny as hers. This knife that I am going to be writing about is one that I made for Lacy & her kitchen. It seems like we don't have any decent kitchen knives so i told her I was going to make one or two or three. We had some pieces of the solid surface kitchen counter left over from her kitchen that I saved, and I thought it might be kinda cool to use it on some knives. See her beautiful kitchen and the awesome counter top.

One of the knives I thought we needed most was one that we could do some real cutting and chopping with. Something for roasts, vegetables, and just a good all around kitchen knife. I had seen a few knives called Japanese Sontaku's. I always thought they were kinda cool lookin, and looked to be a good user as well. So any way this is what I came up with.
I made the blade from Chad Nichols stainless Damascus in a raindrop pattern. Awesome Steel! The bolster is nickel silver pinned with a mosaic pin. And finally the handle. It is some of that very cool counter top Pinned with two of the same mosaic pins as the bolster.

Now check out that vine file work! I'm not the best at the vine file work but I think it turned out pretty good on this knife. As you can see, I dovetailed the bolsters and used white liners and white and gray spacers just to add a little kick to knife.

Now Lacy has a very cool knife that matches her kitchen and that will be an incredible using knife as well. I just hope when it's on the counter top we can find it. See I told you Lacy is a better writer than me. Hope you all come back and enjoy some more bloggin later.
Thanks, Shane P. Atwood
